Suzanne Hanlon

Business Development Officer - RISLA

Suzanne Hanlon brings more than 30 years of experience in the Federal Student Aid industry, with a career spanning guarantee agencies, higher education, and nonprofit lending. She began her work prior to Direct Lending at a guarantee agency, later served at a small business school, and spent over 26 years at the University of Connecticut in the Office of Student Financial Aid Services, supporting students and families in navigating complex financial aid systems.

Today, Suzanne works with RISLA (Rhode Island Student Loan Authority), a nonprofit student loan organization, where she focuses on Employer Student Loan Repayment Programs. In this role, she helps organizations implement innovative, high-impact financial wellness benefits that support employee recruitment, retention, and financial stability. These programs allow employers to contribute up to $5,250 annually toward employees’ student loan repayment—tax-free to the employee—demonstrating a meaningful investment in their workforce. Suzanne partners with employers nationwide to deliver accessible, cost-effective solutions with no startup fees or minimum participation requirements, helping organizations provide real relief to employees facing student loan debt.
